Romans 15:13. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

The Apostle Paul had every reason to be in despair. He was on house arrest chained to a Roman Guard as he penned this verse. Prior to this he had been beaten many times, stoned and left for dead, shipped wrecked on an island, bit by a poisonous snake, and now his freedom had been taken away. And for what reason? Because he preached the Gospel of Jesus. But Paul had found a wonderful secret that he wants us to hang on to today. That our joy and peace is not in our circumstance, but in the power of God who brings hope.

Many of you today are dealing with things you don’t understand. You have stood for Jesus, been faithful to what He has given you to do, and yet you are in the fire. Maybe you have an illness, a job loss, a loved one who has passed on. Maybe your heart is in pain over a failed relationship or past hurts. Whatever it is you are dealing with today that seems outside of your reach, hear the words of Paul today. That God will fill you with all joy and peace in believing in what the finished work of Christ brings. Knowing that by the Holy Spirit there is power!! And in that power that raised Christ from the dead, The same power that keeps the planets in place, and is continuing to create our universe, is the same power to see you through and bring you hope. May you find peace and rest this week in Jesus!!!
