So I shared that God took me in another direction last Sunday and I ended up in John 10:7-9. It was there that I saw something I had never seen. When Jesus referred to Himself as the door, or gate, it lines up with what he was saying in Matthew 7:13-14. The gate is narrow and few go through it. Jesus was referring to Himself as the narrow gate. And then it hit me. Man has tried many doors to God. Buddhism, Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah Witness, and other religions. But Jesus is the only door that leads to the very heart and essence of who God is.
All other paths lead to destruction and judgment. And though I have been teaching the Bible for many years, I saw the perfect correlation in the Bible of God’s Word. How every part of the Bible lines up perfectly and is intertwined with each part and I can trust every Word. God wants us to have a relationship with Him, but it has to be on His terms. We have a choice whether to accept Jesus’s invitation or reject it and try to get to God on our own terms and miss God totally. To realize that God gave Himself in the person of Jesus, to die in our place for our sin, is just to overwhelming to try to understand. But if we could understand God and His amazing ways, that would put Him on our level and we wouldn’t need Him.
Take solace today that your heavenly Father loves you so much and has planned out your steps long before you were born. He has an open invitation for you to come and experience His wonderful love and grace. Enter through the narrow gate of Jesus and see your life transformed .
